Sepia coloring with Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils

I have been wanting to do a sepia toned pencil coloring for awhile, and when I found this Sheena Douglass stamp I knew this was the one I wanted to color in sepia tone. I have put together a full coloring tutorial HERE on the Spectrum Noir blog with step by step photos for how I colored this image with Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils.

I matted my image with black cardstock and mounted to a copper colored card base. A touch of airbrushing using my Craftwell eBrush at the edges of my card using Spectrum Noir marker True Black gave it just the right finish.

Warmest Wishes – Die’sire Reindeer Dance

The new Die’sire Edge’ables Christmas Fancy Borders embossing dies from Crafter’s Companion are so much fun to play with!  Here is the latest card I made using the Reindeer Dance Edge’ables border embossing die.

I cut a piece of cardstock down to 6″ x 12″, used my Crafter’s Companion Ultimate Tool to score it and fold it, then lined up the border die at a diagonal across the front of the card (I used a ruler to ensure it was straight in line with the corners. I used my Craftwell Cut n Boss to cut and then emboss the die. Then, while the die was still on the diecut, I inked the embossed areas using Stampabilities Red and Ranger Archival Magenta Hue ink. An additional cut and emboss of the die gave me the three little snowflakes, two on the card front and one in the upper right corner of the inside of the card (just trimmed them out of the diecut). The large reindeer is the Die’sire Classiques Christmas Elegant Reindeer die, cut from brown cardstock and inked with Marvy Matchables Brown ink. The Warmest Wishes sentiment is from the Crafter’s Companion Sentimentals Greetings stamp set, and I added a little bit of hand-drawn doodling around it.

Gift of Love

I had a lot of fun creating this card using my Crafter’s Companion Ultimate Tool embossing boards and an adorable digital image called Give of Love from Art by Miran. I colored her up using my Spectrum Noir markers. The heart border at the edge of the card was embossed from the Ultimate Tool Springtime Sweets and Cupcake Treats embossing board, trimmed to give a fun dimensional edge to the card. I then embossed it again on white cardstock, cut it out and layered it over the embossing on the card base. The large and small pink and red hearts were embossed from the Sweet Treats Sweet Things embossing board. I cut them out, colored the embossing line with my Spectrum Noir markers, then used my Spectrum Noirs in my Craftwell eBrush to airbrush some red and pink shading to the heart. The “With Love” sentiment is a stamp from the Crafter’s Companion Sentimentals Greetings stamp set.

Hopping by to say Hi

I just love coloring on glitter paper with my Spectrum Noir markers, and there is a great tutorial for learning how to do this over on the Spectrum Noir website HERE.

Instead of using a stamped image, I used outline stickers from Krazy Kreations. Follow the steps in the tutorial for creating the glitter paper (also available from Krazy Kreations), and then just peel and stick the outline stickers on top and press for a good adhesion. Then proceed to color the same as directed in the tutorial, trim out with scissors, and it’s ready for your project. Couldn’t be easier!

On this card, I have colored the frog, lily pad, dragonflies and title block with Spectrum Noir markers on glitter paper.

Below is a close-up of the glittery frog. Isn’t he adorable?!?

Here’s my color list for this project:

Frog – JG3, LG5, LG3, CG4, CG3, CT4, CT1
Lily Pad – DG4, DG3, JG6, LG5
Dragonflies – PL5, PL3, PL2, BT9, BT5, BT3
Water – Spectrum Noir eBrushed onto patterned paper – TB5, TB4, TB3
For the eye – True Black, then opaque white pen over whites of eye

Title Block – BT7, BT5, BT3

Have fun creating some glittery projects and be sure to share your creations with Spectrum Noir on their Facebook page, Twitter or Instagram; and check out their Pinterest page as well for lots of fun inspiration, tutorials and creative ideas!

Decorative Bell

Crafter’s Companion USA has added three more beautiful Christmas Create-A-Card dies to their collection. These dies are 4.25″x5.5″ and perfect for a wide variety of projects. Here, I have used the Decorative Bell die to create this dome-front Christmas card.

CACBell3JodiClarkCCWM

I used a pink cardstock for my card base and cut and embossed the Decorative Bell CAC die from a metallic textured green cardstock. For added dimension, while the paper was still in the die, I daubed on some Stazon Jet Black ink to enhance the embossed areas. I then took the diecut to my eBrush and airbrushed some shading over the entire diecut using Spectrum Noir JG3 and LG5 markers. I backed the center bell diecut with a white cardstock and popped it with foam pop dots.

For the title, I used the Die’sire Edge’ables Wishing You a Merry Christmas die, cut and embossed on black cardstock and white opaque pen to enhance embossing. A little bit of lace ribbon down the sides gave it just the right finishing touch!

Here is another angle that shows the domed front. This card was fun and easy to make!

It’s time for a new challenge over at Spectrum Noir! The theme for this month is “Wet or Dry Embossing”. You can find challenge details HERE

Sept2015ChalJClarkSNWM

For my challenge inspiration card, I used the Nordic Christmas Reindeer Parade embossing folder, embossed on Crafter’s Companion silver shimmering cardstock and inked with a blue distress ink. I eBrushed the edge of the embossing with Spectrum Noir marker TB7. For the banner, I used my Crafter’s Companion Ultimate Tool Angel Wings and Fancy Things embossing board to emboss the banner shape, trimmed it out and eBrushed the edges with TB7. For the sentiment, I used the Warmest Wishes stamp from the Crafter’s Companion Greetings set, stamped with Versamark and heat embossed it using black embossing powder. The cute reindeer is a stamp from the Nordic Christmas Christmas Cheer stamp set and colored with Spectrum Noir blendable pencils. The little white “snowflakes” are punches from a Fiskars flower border punch, embellished with Stickles Frosted Lace glitter glue.

I paired the “Wishing You a Merry Christmas” Edge’ables die with the Die’sire Christmas Fireside Create-A-Card die. Both were cut out of white cardstock and inked with Printworks Designer Ink – Cornflower Blue. My card base, I used my Crafter’s Companion Ultimate Tool to score a piece of prismatic blue cardstock. I added snowflake patterned paper and white fibers from my craft stash behind the CAC die.

The new Die’sire Edge’ables Christmas Only Words dies will be available September 4, 2015 from Crafter’s Companion USA.
