Wintery Night Sky

Snow will soon be flying (soooo not ready!), but it was still fun to make this card using a tutorial on the Spectrum Noir website for creating a dark night sky (click HERE for tutorial).

This rubber stamp called Vintage Lamp Post from Stampabilities was the perfect subject for a dark wintry night sky. I  followed the color sequence of the tutorial, beginning with BGR5, then TB9, TB6, TB7, and finally TB5. The remaining image was colored with Spectrum Noir markers. I topped the card off by using the Die’sire Let It Snow Edge’ables die, then added some eBrushed shading at the edge of the card and across the top using Spectrum Noir BGR5, TB6 and CT3. Full details listed below.

Nordic Christmas Chocolate Box

Brrr!! The weather is getting much cooler, and it’s time to start getting those Christmas projects going! There is a fabulous tutorial by Design Team member Giovana over on the Crafter’s Companion blog for creating a little gift box perfect for those little candies that your loved one craves (mine would be Dark Chocolate!).

Following that tutorial, I created this fun little candy gift box. I used an orange cardstock as my box base, and my Big Score scoring board for all of the box scoring. All of the pattern papers, gift tag and Santa topper are printables from the Nordic Christmas papercrafting CD by Crafter’s Companion. With the addition of a few fun fibers from my stash, this box was ready to fill with some of MY favorite candies! 🙂

Happy Halloween scene card

I love the Halloween stamp sets over at Crafter’s Companion, and I used several stamps to create this cute trick-or-treat scene card to celebrate the day.

For this scene, I used the trick-or-treating kids and the dangling spider from the Trick Or Treating stamp set, and the picket fence/pumpkin stamp as well as the Happy Halloween stamp from the Look Whoooo’s Watching stamp set. I colored it using my Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils.

Color list:

Trick or Treat kids:

Purple – 082, 080, 078
Pink – 041, 035, 030, 029
Stars/hair/crown – 020, 017, 015

There are two other stamp sets that complete the collection, and they are all so cute!

Spectrum Noir October challenge – Use Orange or Gray

Time for another challenge over at Spectrum Noir! Color up ANYTHING you want using your Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, blendable colored pencils, Spectrum Aqua markers, or AquaTint inks, put it on a card or project (make sure the colors orange and/or gray are featured somewhere on it), and you can play along with us!

Here’s my inspiration card for you, colored using both Orange AND Gray! This adorable image is a digital stamp from Faery Ink called Arielle the Chamomile Fairy. I though she made the perfect little Halloween Fairy, so I chose to use her for my theme this month. She is colored with Spectrum Noir markers.

Sprinked around her is “fairy dust”, aka Fran-tage embossing enamel. The Halloween banner at the top of the card was created using the Crafter’s Companion Ultimate Tool’s Angel Wings and Fancy Things embossing board, embossed and cut out of orange cardstock and airbrushed using Spectrum Noir marker DR7 in my Craftwell eBrush.

She is colored with Spectrum Noir markers.

HSN Sneak Peek!

Sara Davies will be back in the US on Wednesday, October 7 for a special craft event on HSN. She’ll be featuring many of the new Die’sire Edge’ables and Create A Card embossing dies, among many other fabulous Crafter’s Companion products.

I made this Christmas tissue box using the new Die’sire Christmas Fireside Create A Card die, one of the dies that will be available on HSN October 7th.

I used Crafter’s Companion white construction cardstock to make my panels, cut and embossed the die on each panel, then inked each panel with Printworks Hunter Green ink and airbrushed it using my Spectrum Noir markers in the Craftwell eBrush using JG7 and LG5. The entire green background is eBrushed as well.

The lid was also cut from CC construction cardstock. A layer of red cardstock with the edges eBrushed using Spectrum Noir DR7 was added. On top of that I placed a Die’sire Chantilly Lace diecut, with the center making the opening for the tissue box.

Look for this sample on the HSN presentation next Wednesday! Below are showtimes for Sara’s presentations, don’t miss out!

HSN Craft Event October 7

Sara Davies, founder of Crafter’s Companion, is working her way back to the US for a special craft day on HSN Wednesday October 7. She’ll be featuring many of the new fabulous Die’sire embossing dies, a special edition of the Crafter’s Inspiration Magazine, and much more!

I made this card using my Big Score and the Die’sire Edge’ables Christmas Snowflake border embossing die, which will be sold on HSN. I found some old snowflake patterned paper in my stash that matched really well, and I used a card topper from the Nordic Christmas papercrafting CD.
