Enjoy the Little Things

Well, this wasn’t a little thing for me – I was so excited when I was asked by Janice Cullen Collyer, the owner of Scrapper’s Delights to be one of her colorists for coloring samples of her digital images for her online store! One of the first images I colored up for her with my Spectrum Noir markers was the adorable Honey Markers 2, a new design in her Marker Girl collection.

I loved coloring this one, and of course I had to add my own personal touch and make the markers look like my Spectrum Noirs!

The Proposal – Coloring Tutorial for Spectrum Noir

Greetings! So many colorists have been asking for new video tutorials from the Spectrum Noir design team, so I’ve taken up the challenge and made my very first coloring tutorial video for you all! The focus of the video is two-fold: first, to share my favorite Red color combination, which is DR7, DR6, DR3, CR7, CR5, and second, to show how I use those colors to color clothing folds.

Leonie Pujol Masks and Stamps

Sadly, my time on the Crafter’s Companion Education Team has come to an end, but I still have some fabulous projects to share using some more of the awesome Crafter’s Companion products! These new Leonie Pujol Mask, Stencil and Stamp sets are so much fun to play with! I created a little bit of a mixed media journal cover using the “Create” stencils and masks set and the Leonie Pujol Tangled Tails stamp set

I painted some of the stamped elements with Art Anthology dimensional paints, then spritzed over the piece with various colors of Perfect Pearls. On top of that, I used my Spectrum Noir markers to airbrush some extra color in the background, then finished it with a coat of Fairy Dust shimmer spray. I adhered the piece to a notebook using Mod Podge, then covered the whole piece with Mod Podge to protect it. I love how it turned out!

Art Anthology Sterling Fairy Dust shimmer spray.

When I first saw these new stamps from the Sara Davies Signature Just For Men collection from Crafter’s Companion, I thought they would be great for creating backgrounds, and they worked perfectly for this male teen card.

To create the background pattern, I used a tutorial from the Spectrum Noir website for creating patterned paper using Spectrum Aqua markers (tutorial can be seen HERE). Instead of mixing the colors, however, I used a single color for each stamping of the image, rotated the stamp each time and overlapped previous impressions.

Spectrum Noir July Challenge – Summer

Phew, the weather’s been pretty hot the last couple weeks, so what better theme could there be for the Spectrum Noir July Challenge other than Summer?!?

I love sitting out on the patio in the summer and watching the hummingbirds visit the feeder. They are such magical little creatures!

I’ve colored these stamps from the Sheena Douglas Tropical Nectar stamp set using Spectrum AquaBlend watercolor pencils.

Use any of your Spectrum Noir products to create a summer themed project and get your entry in!
