Flights of Fantasy – Fairy Child

Adult coloring books are all the rage these days, and while I don’t have any of those, I do have the Morgan Fitzsimons Flights of Fantasy Papercrafting CD from Crafter’s Companion. This collection is full of digital images to color up, including this one called “Fairy Children 1a”, which is one of over 80 images on the CD ready to be printed and colored.

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils on Strathmore 500 Series cold press watercolor cardstock.

Along the left side is the Die’sire Edge’ables Floral Dance border die, inked with Ranger Archival Magenta Hue. Also along the left edge right next to the image is the Die’sire Edge’ables Lattice Flourish border die, which came in the HSN Exclusive Crafter’s Companion Inspiration Magazine Issue 8 kit.

The little flourishes peeking out at the upper and lower right corners are the Sara Davies Signature Collection Festive Wonder Festive Flake snowflake die, re-purposed for a spring-time page.

In the lower left corner is the Sheena Douglass Perfect Partners Lily stamp set, colored with Spectrum Noir markers. The butterfly at the top was made using the Die’sire Classiques Delicate Butterfly die.

Crafter’s Companion Shimmering Cardstock in Candy Red, White Pearl, Black Pearl

Have a Wonderful Day

I just love these Sheena Douglass Perfect Partners stamp and die sets! The Issue 7 Summer Edition of Crafter’s Inspiration Magazine from Crafter’s Companion comes with a Sheena Douglass Poppy acrylic stamp set and a sampling of the dies that coordinate with it, and I couldn’t wait to have a play with it! I grabbed my eBrush airbrush system, my Spectrum Noir markers, and this tutorial for creating eBrushed bacgkrounds found HERE on the Spectrum Noir website, and set out to create a fabulous background using the poppy die from the die set.

I diecut several of the poppy petal shapes and used them as masks for my background, the same way the heart shapes were used in the tutorial link. On Spectrum Noir High Gloss cardstock, I eBrushed over my background with several shades of Spectrum Noir blue teals (BT9, BT7, BT5, BT3), then peeled up some of the poppy petals and eBrushed another layer. I repeated the process again, then decided to give it a little twist and rotated the poppy petals 90 degrees and did another layer of eBrushing. This gave it a neat twisted petal look. And I didn’t let the petal masks go to waste either, I layered them together, stamped the poppy petal stamp on them and used them as my flowers, so they were a perfect match to my background! The card was finished off with some leaves and a sentiment, all from the Sheena Douglass Poppy stamp set included in the Crafter’s Inspiration kit. I eBrushed the shading on the leaves using Spectrum Noir JG6, and then added a touch of Diamond Stickles to the leaves and flowers.

Dreams Come True

CrIspSpring2015I absolutely love the Crafter’s Companion Crafter’s Inspiration craft kits, and the 2015 Spring edition (found HERE at Crafter’s Companion US) offers plenty of elements to satisfy your creativity! This edition includes a beautiful flower die, a stamp set, an embossing folder, a floral template, an instructional DVD and a papercrafting CD, plus a magazine full of tutorials and inspiration! I combined a few of the digital stamps contained on the papercrafting CD to create the scene for this card, printed it out on Spectrum Aqua watercolor paper, and colored it with my Spectrum Aqua markers. Details below.
