Wild at Heart on HSN Wednesday, May 2nd!

Crafter’s Companion is coming back to the Home Shopping Network on Wednesday, May 2, with lots of fabulous new crafting goodies! Among them are the new Spectrum Noir AquaTint watercolor paint pens. They are gorgeous colors in a new styled pen that includes a bristle brush, perfect for brushing and blending the watercolor ink.

Also coming are some beautiful new stamp sets, including this Wild at Heart stamp set, which was stamped here as a second-generation stamp (first stamped on a separate sheet and then stamped on the actual watercolor cardstock for a lighter impression), and then watercolored with the AquaTint pens. For portions of the image, I first scribbled the watercolor ink on an acrylic block and used a Crafter’s Companion waterbrush to pick up the color and apply it to the image. For the darker portions of the flowers and leaves, I colored directly on the image with the AquaTint pens. The floral border die is an oldie but goodie Die’sire Edge’ables Floral Dance die.

This card was made using papers from the Downton Abbey 12×12 Luxury Paper Pad, plus a printable framed art embellishment from the Downton Abbey papercrafting CD and two toppers from the Downton Abbey Die Cut Toppers 2 set. I used the Big Score scoring board to create the card base. A tutorial for how to create this step card base can be found on the Crafter’s Companion blog HERE.

Be sure to visit the Crafter’s Companion website and check out this amazing Downton Abbey Papercrafting Collection!

If Kisses Were Flowers

I’ve been having quite a bit of fun playing with these beautiful flowers from the Sheena Douglass A Little Bit Sketchy A New Leaf stamp set from Crafter’s Companion. I diecut a circle using the largest circle die in the Die’sire Essentials Circle die set. I used my MISTI stamping tool to align and stamp the small flower in a perfect circle, then used it to align and stamp the matching larger flower in the center. The sentiment is from the Sentimentals Vintage Floral Phrases stamp set. More details below.

FloralRing2JClarkCCWM

The flowers and red circle background were colored with Spectrum Noir markers. The flowers are actually flat; I was able to achieve a dimensional look to them by flicking the shading on the petals from the center out, and then from the outside edge inward. This makes them appear bent, even though they really are not.

Warmest Wishes – Die’sire Reindeer Dance

The new Die’sire Edge’ables Christmas Fancy Borders embossing dies from Crafter’s Companion are so much fun to play with!  Here is the latest card I made using the Reindeer Dance Edge’ables border embossing die.

I cut a piece of cardstock down to 6″ x 12″, used my Crafter’s Companion Ultimate Tool to score it and fold it, then lined up the border die at a diagonal across the front of the card (I used a ruler to ensure it was straight in line with the corners. I used my Craftwell Cut n Boss to cut and then emboss the die. Then, while the die was still on the diecut, I inked the embossed areas using Stampabilities Red and Ranger Archival Magenta Hue ink. An additional cut and emboss of the die gave me the three little snowflakes, two on the card front and one in the upper right corner of the inside of the card (just trimmed them out of the diecut). The large reindeer is the Die’sire Classiques Christmas Elegant Reindeer die, cut from brown cardstock and inked with Marvy Matchables Brown ink. The Warmest Wishes sentiment is from the Crafter’s Companion Sentimentals Greetings stamp set, and I added a little bit of hand-drawn doodling around it.

Gift of Love

I had a lot of fun creating this card using my Crafter’s Companion Ultimate Tool embossing boards and an adorable digital image called Give of Love from Art by Miran. I colored her up using my Spectrum Noir markers. The heart border at the edge of the card was embossed from the Ultimate Tool Springtime Sweets and Cupcake Treats embossing board, trimmed to give a fun dimensional edge to the card. I then embossed it again on white cardstock, cut it out and layered it over the embossing on the card base. The large and small pink and red hearts were embossed from the Sweet Treats Sweet Things embossing board. I cut them out, colored the embossing line with my Spectrum Noir markers, then used my Spectrum Noirs in my Craftwell eBrush to airbrush some red and pink shading to the heart. The “With Love” sentiment is a stamp from the Crafter’s Companion Sentimentals Greetings stamp set.

Coloring Feathers with Spectrum Noir Pencils

I found this adorable Sheena Douglass stamp set called Chick Chick Chicken on the Crafter’s Companion website, and, being the owner of 5 adorable chickens, just knew this would be a fun image to color.

ChickFinalJodiClarkWM

I love how my chickens turned out, so I thought I would share the steps I followed for coloring them with my Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils. You can see step by step photos and instructions on the Spectrum Noir blog HERE.

ChickFinalInsideJClarkNOWMHere’s the inside view of the card. I used the Ultimate Crafter’s Companion embossing board to emboss the wavy line, then followed that for trimming the outside of the card so that the inside would show at the bottom. I then trimmed a piece of black cardstock following the same shape for the inside of the card and used white gel and black microliner pens to draw the dashed lines.
